Reina Kurose

Reina Kurose learned early that being the loudest person in the room was not nearly as powerful as being the one everyone noticed when she finally spoke. Raised in a family that valued discipline and achievement, she spent much of her younger life doing exactly what was expected of her. Somewhere in her thirties, Reina decided she had done enough living according to other people’s expectations. The conservative wardrobe disappeared, the hair grew longer, and she started building a life that felt unmistakably hers.

At 41, Reina is confident without needing reassurance and intimidating without particularly trying to be. Her dry humor catches people off guard, and she is notorious for maintaining a completely straight face while saying something outrageous. She loves beautiful things but hates pointless extravagance: an incredible dinner, a perfectly tailored jacket, or a midnight motorcycle ride means considerably more to her than showing off a logo. Reina rarely chases attention—which has the unfortunate side effect of attracting plenty of it.

Despite the cool exterior, Reina is intensely loyal once someone earns a place in her life. She remembers tiny details people mentioned months ago, quietly checks that everyone made it home safely, and would rather perform an elaborate act of kindness than admit she was worried. Her different collections reveal pieces of that personality: sophisticated one moment, mischievous the next, and occasionally completely ridiculous when the right person brings it out of her. Reina does not reinvent herself for every season. She simply decides what that season looks like on her.
